Frutie Friends is a brand I created with the intention of bringing queer characters to the beloved little guy space. Everyone has a favorite cute little character but I wanted something specifically for the queer community to relate to and enjoy.

Queer people are often found in groups, and in this case, a group of five animal friends. Each animal has a corresponding fruit motif and a completely unrelated name. The semi-lead character is the strawberry bunny named Turnip, accompanied by his blueberry squirrel boyfriend, Kiwi. They are friends with a pair of lesbians- Cherry the pomegranate raccoon, and Pickles an apple frog- as well as their eccentric friend Cheese, the citrus deer.

Now I cant make a character without putting at least a little bit of myself into them. I think its almost impossible to make a good character without drawing from my own experiences, its what I know best. They’re all current or past sides of me, things I think I am or want to be.

But I hope to have created characters that people can connect with or find relatable and silly. Characters to find joy as well as commiseration with.
